Sarah

Sarah Hutson was born to be a photographer. She got her first camera when she was eight years old and started to enter competitions at age 12. “My dad was a keen photographer so I caught the bug from him. He taught me to appreciate the magic of seeing a picture develop in front of my eyes. That same magic still drives me so my job is never a chore - it is one of my passions in life.”

Naturally Sarah went on to study photography at college in Edinburgh and following her successful degree show, she trained in the business of photography with one of Scotland’s foremost photographers.

In 2003, it was time for Sarah to go it alone so she established her own studio and Sarah Elizabeth photography was born.

Under Sarah’s artistic direction the business has grown from strength to strength and Sarah herself has become a qualified Associate Member of the Master Photographers Association, winning a number of awards. “I love to photograph people: to capture moments, occasions, times in their lives which will be treasured by their family and friends for generations to come. I guess the importance of family shines through in my work.”

Not content with running her own business, Sarah found time to marry Paul at Craigmillar Castle back in 2004 which is when Sarah’s sister Jenny started to help her out at the studio, joining what is now the ‘family firm’. Sarah and Paul were blessed with a beautiful baby daughter Grace in 2006.

When asked why her business has become so successful, Sarah says, “I take care to listen to my clients, lead them through the process, making them feel relaxed so that the results are spontaneous, natural and contemporary.”

But what gives Sarah Elizabeth photography the edge? “I always try and exceed their expectations.”
