Whilst the world below us was full of the hustle and bustle of last minute Christmas shoppers, the Bute and Board rooms in the National Museum of Scotland were playing host to the relaxed intimate affair that was Carolanne and Ewan’s wedding. The views from here are stunning, with the castle lit up in is full glory and the roof tops covered in snow it was the perfect venue to host this family gathering. Inside the board room the huge round table was beautifully dressed with a gorgeous display from the very talented Planet Flowers and with food being supplied by The Tower Restaurant they were all in for a real treat.
There seemed to be a bit of a debate about how long Carolanne and Ewan have been together but be it 11 or 12 years (or maybe more ) there was no question that these two were obviosuly meant to be together. It might have taken them a while to get round to it but is seems there was never a question that they would get married, they just needed to find the right time and place to do it.
Mr & Mrs Lamond this was the simple, laid back affair that you wanted and I was so pleased you invited me to capture it for you. Isabella was such a star (as were all the children) you must be very proud parents.
I loved watching the slide show of all the great images you have from your time together and now you can add these to your collection.
2011 will see us enter our 9th year of trading! I find it hard to believe that it has been 9 years already. I have been involved in the industry for a lot longer than that, 15 years actually (my goodness that make me sound old) but I did start out young, in fact photography is all I have ever done (or wanted to do for that matter!)
New Year often brings a time of reflection, of planning, setting goals and re assessing life. This year our reflection process started a few months ago, we were planning big things and these plans are now being put in place
The first part was our lovely new website that you are looking at, we are still regularly adding to it so enjoy browsing all the images in the galleries. And the second is……we are on the move!
From 5th January 2010 we are now based from home. My lovely husband is putting the last coat of paint on our new meeting room and soon we will be getting the frames hung and the cushions plumped ready to meet some new and exciting clients (as well as welcoming back familiar faces).
Whilst we are no longer have a studio on site we do still have access to our studio space so are still able to offer the studio portraiture that we are known for. However we are very excited to now be available for portraiture on location. We love working with natural light are really looking forward to seeing what we can create.
Our regular clients will know that 2010 saw big changes for us with the addition of Jenny’s Daughter Orlaith in February. I was blessed with becoming a Mummy for the second time late in 2009 with Daniel joining big sister Grace. Being working Mums is hard, we are very lucky to do a job that we absolutely love but it can sometimes be difficult to find a good work life balance, especially with three small children between us.
We are hoping that these changes will allow us to have the best of both worlds; we will be able to continue to offer the same excellent customer service and beautiful photography that we are known for but also have more time for our children too.
We are changing with the times, opening ourselves up to new experiences and pushing our photography to new levels. We are excited about the opportunities that this move will lead to, and to sharing them with you on this blog.
So bring on 2011, we hope it is a great year for us all.
Happy New Year
Sarah & Jenny
It was just over a year ago that we had the pleasure of meeting this lovely couple. Back then Claire was the bridesmaid for her sister Laura but now it was her time to be the bride! We already knew the Mcbride family knew how to enjoy a wedding so we were very much looking forward to capturing Claire & Rich’s big day. Loch Lomond is a special place for them and The Lodge on Loch Lomond was the perfect place for their winter wedding. The forecast had predicted wet, windy and wintry conditions and for once they weren’t wrong, but a bit of Scottish weather wasn’t going to dampen anyone spirits. Sister in Law Kay, did a great job with the girls make up whilst brother Jamie was taking care of the newest member of the family, JJ, their youngest guest at only 12 weeks old. Special mention must also go to Thomas, Rich’s nephew who looked so adorable in his little kilt.
Claire & Rich your planning was not without it’s ups and downs…planning a wedding when you are so far a part can’t have been an easy task but it all came together perfectly (but what else would we expect from a wedding planner!)
We loved that you didn’t let the weather spoil your plans, our mad dash along the pier is something we won’t forget for a while…it was freezing! We know that there was a very special person missing from your big day but the balloon release was such a touching tribute for your Mum, and what better spot to do it from
Claire we are seriously impressed with your cake, you did a fantastic job and I am sure it tasted as good as it looked. It was great to see the party in full swing, “The Blackjacks” were on great form and we bet they kept the dancefloor full all night.
It was a great day and just lovely to see all the family again (and to meet Rich’s!) Look forward to getting together soon to design your album….here are a few of our favourite’s in the meantime.
It was just over a year ago when we first got to know this family. Heavily pregnant with their first child Lindsay looked so amazing, sporting the perfect baby belly so looks so radiant. Shortly after I had the great privilege of photographing their son at just a few days old. Here we are one year on and that tiny little baby has turned into a big bundle of fun, Sam is full of energy and always on the go, we had a great time chasing him around the studio.
Guys it was so great to see you all again, I can hardly believe that this is the same little guy that I met a year ago, time just goes so fast. Sam is a real little character, I look forward to seeing how much he has changed again this time next year.
ps I loved Elmo, I know what I am asking Santa for!
