Whisky

From the moment I first saw this little guy I was totally besotted.  I don’t really know how it happened, I wouldn’t say I was a cat fan but once I saw him I just knew he had to be part of our family.  So this is Whisky, our 13 week old Bengal Kitten.  We brought him home today and he is already settling in nicely.  Our house has been taken over with scratching posts and toy mice and I can’t wait to sit on the sofa with him curled up on my lap. Think I might turning into a bit of a cat lady!

Catherine & Ken – A Winter Wedding at Dundas Castle

It is always a pleasure to be at Dundas Castle but on a beautiful crisp winter’s day there are few better places to be. Golf plays a big part in Catherine and Ken’s life.  They both play at Dundas Golf Club and being based in South Queensferry it was the perfect place for them to become Mr & Mrs Miller. Planet Flowers had made the cutest golf club button holes.  The golf theme was carried through with some vintage golf clubs at the door to the Auld Keep and the tables for dinner were all golf names too.  Catherine’s Dress was from Rachel Scott Couture and Mette from Freja Fashion had designed and made the bridesmaids dresses. It was a real family affair, the ceremony was performed by Ken’s Mum, very handy that she was recently ordained as a minister!  Watching her marry them was really special, what a lovely thing to be able to do for your son.

Great to work with the team at Dundas Castle again, and Claire, thanks for being my second photographer it was a really fun day. Biggest thanks goes to Catherine and Ken for asking me to capture their day.  We hit it off so well from that very first meeting, I was delighted you chose me to capture it for you, I hope these bring back lots of happy memories of a fantastic day.

10 years of wonderful weddings

Reaching my ten year milestone has given me a chance to reflect on my work over the years and on the stories I’ve been a part of. It has been so lovely looking through all these beautiful weddings that I decided I had to share them.

Over the past ten years I’ve been a part of a lot of weddings – 403 to be exact! While there have been countless combinations of bridesmaid’s dresses, venues and themes making each one unique, at the heart of them all are two people in love making the commitment to be together forever in front of the people who matter the most to them.

It really is such a privilege to be asked to record memories of the day that will be shared for a lifetime. There are so many stories from these weddings that I could write a book  - perhaps one day I will.

When I started out on this journey, I aimed to be different from all the traditional photographers that were around. I always made sure to capture the crucial shots, but then complemented them with more contemporary and candid images, capturing the emotion of the day and telling the story.

I still approach wedding photography the same way today. Though my style and skills have developed and grown, I always include the important elements of classic photography in every wedding I shoot.  While fashion trends can come and go, I believe that tradition never goes out of style. A wedding may only be one day, but I want the photographs to been enjoyed for many years.

I am excited to see what the future brings. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy this journey through the years as much as I have.  To all my lovely couples who have trusted me to capture their big day, thank you, this is for you.

10 years old!

Happy birthday to me, it has been 10 years to the day since I set up in business and what a 10 years it has been!  So, so many highlights, it has had its challenges but I have continued to move forward, adapt and develop the business to the best of my abilities.  I am delighted to still be here, doing what I love, I really do have one of the best jobs in the world.

To celebrate I have launched a lovely new website, no more flash so all you iPad users will be able to see everything and there is a new mobile site too.  The eagle eyed amongst you might notice a subtle change to the logo too.  I am still adding more images to the galleries and the blog so please visit again soon.

So all that remains is to say thank you to everyone who has supported me over the last 10 years.  All the wonderful suppliers that I get to work with.  My photographer friends and colleagues who are there to talk to when I need them.  My wonderful, wonderful family, Paul, I am so pleased that you have been there right behind me for this journey, Dad for all your technical support, Jenny for just being you and all you have done for me, Mum & Mother in Law Moyra for always being there to help with childcare which allows me to keep doing what I love.

But the biggest thank you has to go to you, my fantastic clients.  I am so lucky that so many of you come back time and time again, I love getting to know you all, to meet your children and to call so many of you friends. It goes without saying that I wouldn’t still be here without you!

So here is to the next 10 years and whatever that holds for me and Sarah Elizabeth Photography, I can’t wait!

Little Leo

I was so excited when i got an email from Lara saying that she had just had a little boy.  I photographed Lara & Iain’s wedding back in 2007, in fact this was to be the 4th time I have photographed this pair so I knew it would be fun.  Only 2 weeks in but these guys are already natural parents, so laid back and taking it all in their stride.  I got lots of cuddles whilst trying to get him to sleep which was just lovely, I do LOVE newborns.

Thank you for getting in touch again Lara, it felt like yesterday we were doing your album design and now you are parents….exciting times!
