Karen & Mark – Dunglass Estate Wedding, East Lothian

I had already had the pleasure of meeting Karen when she was a bridesmaid at her sister wedding back in 2006 so was delighted when she asked me to cover her own wedding.  I had heard loads of great things about Dunglass Estate so was very excited to finally be working there.  It didn’t disappoint, the grounds are huge and were bathed in warm sunshine with bright blue skies.   The focal point of the grounds is the beautiful church where they had their ceremony before cocktails on the lawn, see if you can spot their nephew trying to steal some of the cocktails!  I could have spent hours in the grounds but Karen & Mark were keen to keep things low key and have lots of time with their guests so we stayed around the church area but were still spoilt for choice for backdrops.  Karen is a teacher and one of her pupils came along to be their piper and did an amazing job piping them throughout the day.  After dinner the party really got started and the dance floor was bouncing courtesy of The Man from Delmonte, not your average wedding band but they were absolutely brilliant.  Check out Mark and they boys rocking out with lead singer and guitarist in the middle of the dance floor! What a great day, thank you Mr & Mrs Livingston, such a fun wedding to be a part of.

Mayuko & David – Balmoral Hotel Wedding

Mayuko & David had not one, but two weddings the first was in Japan and I was lucky enough to be asked to cover the Scottish one.   The Ceremony was in David’s family Church in Linlithgow which was filled with the most amazing sound courtesy of  Soundsational Choir.  After the Ceremony Family and Friends were invited to join them for a small reception in the church hall before the Immediate families headed through to Edinburgh for a wonderful Dinner in The Balmoral Hotel.  We were spoilt for choice of locations for photographs and Mayuko was brave enough to dodge some Scottish weather to allow us to make the most of them. The Boys did a great job delivering Multi-Lingual speeches which were received with lots of laughter (and few tears).  I loved hearing your story, how you have embraced each other’s culturals and the journey you have been on to get to this point.  It was a very special day to be a part off.  Thank you Mr & Mrs O’Hare.

Holly & Will – Outdoor Wedding in Roslin Glen

I was so excited when Holly asked me to capture images at her wonderful woodland wedding to Will.  There are not many weddings that the invite has a grid reference for the location of the ceremony.  On a warm summers morning, in a clearing in the middle of the Forrest in Roslin Glen, friends and family gathered to witness the most amazing ceremony.   One of the highlights was Will’s Daughter signing a beautiful Gaelic song before a hand-fasting ceremony.  It concluded with everyone joining in for an acoustic version of “You can’t hurry love”  We spent some time capturing some lovely photographs of this new family before they all headed off for food and to enjoy the sunshine.  I joined them again in the evening to capture for some energetic ceilidh dancing in the Counting House in Edinburgh.  I just loved this DIY wedding, they did exactly what they wanted to do, the ceremony was built around them, their children and the new family they were creating.  It was a very special day to be involved in, thank you Holly and Will for inviting me to be a part of it.

Harry

Just a few weeks after their 1st Wedding Anniversary I caught up with Catherine & Ken to meet their gorgeous 8 week old son Harry.   They were keen to capture him whilst he is still little, but this boy does not like to be put down!  I wasn’t complaining though as I got a lovely cuddle whilst we got him to sleep.  Lovely to see the transition from Bride & Groom to Mummy & Daddy.  Couldn’t resist a few shots in his little Christmas pudding hat – too cute!4719_007_bw_stomped4719_011_bw_stomped4719_020_stomped4719_023_bw_stomped4719_027_stomped4719_045_bw_stomped4719_030_stomped
